Horizons article in the Minot daily. Comment on whether you think I am right.
…….
Rolette is going forward with plans to introduce Cash 101, a game to educate youth on money management, to schools and youth clubs.
“People in Rolette also feel that the real benefit from the whole Horizons process was the Leadership Plenty,” Jo Gilje of the Rolette Horizons Committee said. “Leadership Plenty really helped us out in working as a community.”
The leadership training program promoted community consensus rather than letting a few people make decisions and do the work, she said.

Saturday morning didn’t look like a good day to clean roadside ditches. With SNOW on the ground and a cold wind it looked like the ditch leaning would be postponed. But by 10am the snow was gone and the sun was shining. By 1pm the weather was fine. Three members from the Rolla club and 9 members for the Rolette club HAPPILY picked trash. Some items of note were 1 skate board without wheels, sunglasses with 1 lens and 1 nail apron. Pop cans were saves separate to be recycled. Thank you 4-H kids for helping keep Rolette County clean. For more information on 4-H call Jo Gilje at 246-3427 or follow this link http://www.ext.nodak.edu/4h/4-h.htm

The e-bay class at the Rolette Technology center was a great success. Dan from Bowbells was a great teacher with real eBay experience. He show how to research items to set the right price, add an item to sell on eBay with a good picture and how to use paypal and ship the item that was sold. So much useful information. This class taught students how to make a little extra money selling items. Items sold were new and old, big and small, expensive and cheap. Congratulations to the students for learning a new skill that they can pass along to others. Thank you to Dan for bringing all of his experience to Rolette and sharing it. It would not have been possible without the efforts of Karen Armstrong who organized the class.

One of our goals is to promote business and job growth in the Rolette area. In support of that objective, we are planning to produce an inventory of available business locations. There are numerous buildings or (portions of buildings) in Rolette that are available for a business to rent (or possibly buy) and get started with lower startup costs than building a new facility. The business location inventory will be posted on the Rolette web site when it is complete. If you have a property that would be suitable for a business to move into and would like it listed in the inventory, please contact Joellen Gilje. We will include pictures of the building and contact information for the owners.

Garys’ organic enterprises visualize the production of healthy foods to allay hunger issues and provide work for some of those currently unemployed. Based on that model of church administration of welfare and other social isssues early in this countries history, there is ample evidence of the churches success and efficiency in these activities. The system was faulted in that the supervising pastors tended to feed their parisheners better than others, and would sometimes use food as an inducement to join their particular church. Also, they would burn a witch once in a while but this wasn’t prevalent. Additional info here. (Rolette ND)

Early in the morning saturday Jan. 19th the men of all faiths in Rolette gathered to eat a tasty breakfast and pray for national leaders. We all had a egg bake prepared by Cordell Beaver and orange juice as well as coffee. Many men prayed for local people with health

problems and for the future economic prosperity of the community. Lonnie Anderson closed the prayer session praying for his son who is currently working in China. Come and join us every third saturday at 7:00 in the morning as we praise our lord and uplift our community.

The Prairie Rose Writers have been very busy lately planning their first anthology. An anthology is a collected work of several writers that could include poems, prose, essays, and short stories. The Prairie Rose Writers group began in the summer of 2005 and has been going strong ever since. From time to time they also have visitors who include those who have already published their own books. The group is also encouraged to attend the annual Writers Conference which is held in the spring of every year at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, North Dakota. For more information , please go to UND Writers Conference.
